It involves the preparation of catalogue entries for new books based on the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and the Library of Congress Subject Headings prior to their publication. The ISSN is managed by a worldwide network of seventy-seven National Centres, coordinated by an International Centre from Paris and backed by UNESCO and the French Government. \u00a0ISSN is a standardized international code which enables the identification of any serial publication, including electronic serials, independent of its country of publication, language, frequency and medium.
